Director Biography - Mizuho Otagiri

​

Mizuho Otagiri was born in 1983, Kyoto. He met Hiroyuki Oki at Yamagata Documentary Film Festival 2009 and started his filmmaking carreer by teaching himself. He was involved in many independent fiction and documentary films as a cinematographer. From 2015 to 2017, he participated in documetary film "Assatsu no Umi ; Henoko" and "Takae: Mori ga Naite Iru" 1&2, directed by Yukihisa Fujimoto, Asako Kageyama shot in Henoko and Takae in Okinawa. In 2017, the short film "Hizume", directed by Asagi Kimura, was selected at Florida's Experimental Edge Film and Art Festival 2018 and received the Award for Best Feature. In 2019, feature film "The Kamagasaki Cauldron War" directed by Leo Sato, went to film festivals and received awards, such as the Grand Prix at Porto/Post/Doc 2018, Best Film at Kinotayo Film Festival. It also appeared at Jeonju International Film Festival 2019, Hamburg Film Festival 2019, and Singapore International Film Festival 2019. In 2020, he directed his first short film "Iroiro na iro" and Music video. He is now working on several Documentary and short film projects as a director or cinematographer.
